During the Imjinwaeran, General Gim, Si-min and 3,800 soldiers fought fiercely against 20,000 Japanese invaders for 6 days to score a victory in the first Jinjuseong Battle(1592).

In the second Jinjuseong Battle(1593), 70,000 militia corps and government troops including three leading generals, Gim, Cheon-il, Choe, Gyeon-hoe and Hwang, Jin fought against 120,000 Japanese invaders for 11 days to defend the castle, finally laying down their lives for their country.

In 1987, the Cultural Property Administration built this altar to cherish the memory of these patriots who were martyred at the two Jinjuseong battles.
