Geumhoji Pond, located at 1102-1 Yongah-ri, Geumsan-myeon, is a large reservoir with an area of 204,937㎡. It is associated with a very interesting legend.

Once upon a time, a yellow dragon and a blue (or black) dragon were engaged in a fierce fight. One warrior who saw this shouted "stop fighting", and the blue dragon looked down in surprise. Meanwhile, the yellow dragon stabbed the blue dragon's neck and the blue dragon fell down, making a big pond where his body hit the ground.

This is Geumhoji Pond of today, with the blue water resembling the blue dragon. Also, another legend goes that the king of the underworld will ask you when you die, "Have you ever been to Geumhoji Pond?' and if you say 'No', he will send you to hell because you are lazy.

The circumference of Geumhoji Pond is 5km, and there are many curves so it is difficult to see the whole lake at a single glance. There is no information on when it was formed, too, but it is estimated to have formed naturally during the Silla Dynasty. The pond is surrounded by a thick pine forest creating a beautiful scenery. It is also famous as a fishing place with abundant fish resources.
