道诜国师于879年(新罗时代宪康王五年)修建了这座寺庙。据说当时道诜国师见到青鹤落巢在南江边后, 周围充满锐气, 决定在此地建造寺院。

大雄殿是庆南地区最古老的建筑, 它是一座单层八作屋顶式瓦房, 沿用多包式系统, 正面有三间, 侧面有两间, 由活柱支撑。
