1983年设立，1984年开馆庆尚大学附属博物馆，面积为490㎡，其宗旨在于研究西部庆南的史前与古代文化，并公开与众。

开馆以来，博物馆致力于研究调查西部庆南的史前与古代文化遗址，并展出了从陜川玉田古坟群出土的龙凤纹环图、马头盔等7679件文物，以及其他20多件文物。尤其，博物馆集中展示着从伽倻古坟出土的土器、金属器等文物。让人们从新认识到神秘王国——伽倻的灿烂文化与历史。
