晋州城矗石楼の岩壁の下にあるこの岩は、壬辰倭乱(文祿の役)以前は危険な岩として危岩と呼ばれた。

その後、壬辰倭乱の際に論介がこの岩から倭将を抱きしめ身を投げ殉国したことで広く知られるようになった。以降彼女の犠牲精神を賛えるべく、義岩(義に徹した岩)という名で呼ばれた。

この岩の平らな上面の広さは幅3.65m、長さ3.3mであり、南江の川面に浮かぶように突き出ている。
